Haryadi Gunawi, PhD | Haryadi Gunawi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Chicago where he leads the UCARE research group (UChicago systems research on Availability, Reliability, and Efficiency). He received his Ph.D from the U of Wisconsin, Madison and was a postdoctoral fellowship at UC Berkeley from 2010 to 2012. His current research focuses on cloud computing reliability and new storage technology. He has won numerous prestigious awards including NSF Computing Innovation Fellowship and Google Faculty Research Award. He also initiated Garuda ACE (Academic of Excellence), a two-year capacity building program that provides collaboration between Indonesian university students to UChicago Professors and researchers which led to an MoU between Indonesia’s Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemristekdikti) and the U of Chicago to train future Indonesian Computer Scientists. |
Johan Sulaiman | Johan blends systems, applications, data, and technology know-how with organizational leadership, as he utilizes a wide range of technical management, and leadership skillsets in envisioning, designing and directing large scale analytics, machine learning, business intelligence systems projects and teams for Fortune 500 companies. He is also a lifelong learner participating in educational technology and data analytics R&D at Columbia University’s Programming Systems Lab. He has delivered public presentations on topics such as enterprise performance management, corporate systems, data analytics, business development, and business intelligence experiences at world class conferences such as Google Summit and Oracle OpenWorld and has experiences in business development and technical advising for regional and national governments. |
Jane Tjahjono | Jane Tjahjono recently graduated with a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS). Her master’s thesis entitled “Improving Household Organic Waste in Jakarta, Indonesia” was awarded a distinction. Prior to HKS, she was a Research Assistant at the World Bank in Indonesia analyzing the impacts of the Village Law and Fund Transfer program, a flagship policy to decentralize development at the village level. Jane holds a BA in Economics from Covenant College |
Tri Maharani, MD, PhD | Dr. Maharani serves as the head of the Emergency Dept of the Daha Husada Hospital, Kediri, Indonesia. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, she has served in various volunteering positions at the nation’s capital, including in Sulianti Saroso Central Hospital for Infectious Diseases and the Emergency Covid-19 Hospital at the Athlete Village. She contracted the disease while helping her staff back in Kediri but survived and now revamped with experiences on how Christians should respond to the pandemic as a physician, a patient, and a survivor. |
Obed Paundralingga, MS, MD | Obed is working in the field of neuroscience at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and has been following the progress of research in Covid-19 related areas since the beginning of the outbreak. He will be moderating the session with Dr. Maharani. |
